Come hear Robin Ziegler, St. James Chamber Director speak on March 26 about “Building New Bridges.”
Robin Ziegler spent twenty-five plus years in the Marine Corps family. Her first career choice was business management, where she started out as a Personnel Training Coordinator for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. After her oldest son started elementary school, Robin began volunteering with the local PTA. She soon discovered volunteerism and advocating for children and families to be a passion of hers. Robin continued to serve with the National PTA going on to be State PTA President for the Pacific Congress, thus holding a seat on the National PTA Board of Directors, while living in Okinawa, Japan. She was awarded a life time membership for her commitment. During that same time Robin was employed by the Department of Defense Schools. Her volunteer experiences led her to a job as Support Services Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Department in Suffolk, VA where she helped plan City-wide events. After returning to Okinawa, Robin began volunteering as a Key Volunteer Coordinator for HQ Co, HQBN 3rd Marine Division and Station Chair for the local American Red Cross. Robin later served as Acting Station Manager for the American Red Cross, Camps Courtney, Hansen and Schwab. She was awarded an American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Service Award for dedication to military service and family support. After returning state-side Robin served as Family Readiness Officer for Intelligence Support Battalion, providing readiness and deployment support for Marines and their families. Robin experienced nine Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves, of which nine years was spent overseas, one unaccompanied one year tour, one combat deployment, and numerous other family separations due to her husband’s military service. Robin and her husband Mark, a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps returned to their home-town of St. James, MO in 2012. Following the 2014 Government cut-backs, Robin began working at Missouri S&Ts International Affairs Department, where she worked with Sponsored and Exchange Student programs. Since 2018, Robin has worked as the Director of the St. James Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center, again helping to plan and organize City-wide events and advocating for businesses and the community. Robin and her husband Mark have two sons, Nicholas and his wife who live in Louisiana and Matthew recently married and living in New York. Robin is a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, one who shares her birthday.
